Vision problem Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

Hello Doctor,

I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and have had low normal levels of hormones.  I am currently taking synthroid and cytomel.  I had cataracts removed when I was 49 years old and the laser surgery soon followed to clear up the lenses following surgery.  A couple of years after surgery I experienced black spots, flashing lights.  This has all subsided now, but I am getting grayish cloudy vision.  My Dr. told me it was as if I was looking out of an windshield with ice on it.  I have dry eye syndrome that probably is caused by the Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.  My Dr. is talking to me about going back and opening up my apertures so they will be wider.  What good will this do?    He checked my retina and said it is fine.  My vision would be great, except for having to use reading glasses. I am afraid my eyesight is only getting worse.  My Dr. is not sure what is going on.  Do you have any idea what could be causing this condition?  I wondered if it has anything to do with high levels of protein in my body?
Thank you.

I would for sure get a second opinion. As a generalization its not a good idea to go and do surgery, procedures, laser when you're "happy". You say "getting grayish cloudy vision" and then "My vision would be great .....except for reading glasses." If its great I wouldn't do anything, if its gray and cloudy get a consult about additional laser.

Your thyroid condition will not affect the inside of your eyes.
