Visual Field Test

Visual Field Test

Hi,  I went to a neuro opthtamalogist  and I failed the visual field test in my left eye twice.  My question is
could the optic nerve been damaged 5 years ago when I had a stroke.  Could an MRI help determine the cause?
The doctor is sending me for one.  My eye pressure was fine and I did have my pupil dilated in the left eye and the doctor said everything look good.  There is no history of glaucoma in my family.  I am hoping that it is not
Glaucoma if it is not what else could it be.  The doctor did perscribe drops for my left eye.  He seemed to
think it was glaucoma - how will he definitely know what it is.  Thank you - I look forward to your answer.

Dear MAmethyst,

Sometimes, it is difficult to diagnose low tension glaucoma from other disorders. Cerebrovascular accidents can sometimes cause visual field defects.  I would recommend that you undergo testing and seek the care of a glaucoma specialist as well.
