Vitrectomy-Macular Pucker

What questions should I be asking at my 4 wk. post Vitrectomy ERM Peel appt. ?

I have one of those surgeons that just says the minimum during appts.---and this is a very important appt. to learn anything I can about how the surgery went and what to expect in the future.
I found if I don't word the questions exactly correctly using their terms, I don't get an informative answer.

Can anybody help me ask a few direct relevant questions about what he sees on the OCT and the exam at this 4 wk. post surgery appt. ?   How does one know what to ask when us patients don't even know what they are looking for on the OCT's or inside the eye ?

Any suggestions appreciated, and would probably be helpful to all forum readers.

My situation was different from yours.  I'd expect that your current acuity is better than 20/400.  If your surgeon is pleased with your progress, than you're doing fine.

Thanks Jodie...
before surgery was 20/200 with lots of scar tissue, a 4+.  It grew fast within a year.   Day after surgery 20/400.  My own interpretation today 3 1/2 weeks post surgery is that I maybe see a little more clearly in that the blank spots seem to have decreased in size...but I still have blank spots and in no way can read.

The day after surgery my surgeon said not to expect much improvement for maybe many months because  I had severe scar tissue and wrinkled macula.  He likened it to a piece of sod that was never laid properly and dried out and crumbled.

Guess I don't know if he is just saying what makes me feel better, or if I should expect some better improvement 4 wks after surgery.   Any ideas ?

The bottom line is your acuity.  What was it the day after surgery?  What is it now?  If there has been progressive improvement, great!  If no improvement over 4 weeks, then why?
