Vitrectomy to remove an epiretinal membrane

I am worried about the posturing (lying face down) that has to be done after a vitrectomy. I have read that sometimes this has to be done for about two weeks.
Is it always necessary to have to do posturing after having a vitrectomy?
I hired some equipment that is supposed to help with the posturing, just to practise to see how I would cope, but after a few hours it made me feel quite ill, so that is why I am  wondering is posturing always necessary, and how others have managed.

Posturing is not needed following uncomplicated surgery to peel an ERM.  I had surgery in a different state, and I was able to drive and fly back home the following day.  Definitely discuss this issue with your surgeon.
