Vitrectomy

Vitrectomy

I had a vitrectomy with membrane peel  for macular pucker 5 weeks ago. Everything went well according to surgeon post op as well as at 1 week visit post op. On my 1 month visit he did an oct scan and found there was still swelling and visual acuity had not improved.  He now has me takin pred forte agaain aom a more frequent basis.  He also mentioned a steroid injection if the pred forte does not reduce the inflammation.
My questions are does the inflammation ever resolve on its own and has anyone had any experiences with either the drops or injection nd how long is the healing time.

Thanks

The swelling is probably cystoid macular edema (CME), it is very common. It often goes away with drop and/or injection therapy.
