Vitreous detachement

Vitreous detachement

Hi,

can you tell me evolution of a vitreous detachment ?

I was myoptic with a -6 and a -11. I had Lazik surgery about 20 years ago.  Then 3 years ago I had cataract surgery on both eyes.  I then had a vitrectomy and scleral buckle on my left eye.  Now, in my right eye, the weaker one, I have a vitreous detachment.  What awaits me with this ?  Also, I noticed that I am very sensitive to light (snow storms, sunny days) and have trouble seeing faces in not so well lit rooms. Is this normal ?

Thank you for the reply.

PVD is a normal part of aging. 50% at age 50 and 75% at age 70. See an Eye MD yearly. the biggest risk of posterior vitreous detachment causing retinal detachment is in first 6 weeks after it starts. Risk is LOW.

Thank you for your reply.  I forgot to mention.  I am 39 years old.  Can you confirm that the 'bubble' will move away from the center part of my eye so that it doesn't affect my vision as much.  Will it ever just go away ?

And one last question.  Will I ever have any problems with the eye with the buckle and vitrectomy ?  What I mean is besides having trauma to that eye, will I need to worry about the buckle not lasting (40 more years) or is this a permanent fix.

Thank you very much for the response.

I cannot tell what your floater/bubble will do.  Nor can I tell you whether your buckle willever give your trouble. Have checked yearly by Eye MD.  The material the buckle is made out of is very durable and will last longer than you will.
