Was advised my macular pucker is a result of age and not correctible

Recently went for my annual checkup to my retinal specialist and the  exam revealed a weakness in my right eye.
Focus not clear in it,  and wavy lines when reading a grid.  I was surprised at the wavy lines!
Long story short was diagnosed with macular pucker in the bad eye. When questioned about the cause etc was told its from age (I am 70) and there was nothing that could be done to address the degradation in vision.
After researching the diagnosis it seemed there is a surgical procedure to address the scarring and improve vision, but  although it may help it is not a complete cure.
I would greatly appreciate advice on possible solution to improve the vision loss caused by the macular pucker.
Thanks for your help

Above correct unless vision severely affected or traction on macula severe risks of vitrectomy and membrane peel not warrant surgery

You say that the "weakness" in you eye was revealed during an eye exam.  That leads me to believe that your stronger eye is compensating.  That's good news!  Any decision regarding surgery depends on the severity of the pucker.  A macular peel is delicate business and is reserved for severe cases.
