Weird Eye Movement

Weird Eye Movement

None of the choices in the topic area really fit what Im asking about.  When I eat/chew, my right eyelid moves up and down.  Its worse when I look down and eat/chew.  I dont notice it that bad, it doesnt hurt and its happend ever since I was a child.  I was just wondering what it was called and if complications might occur latter on life.
Thanks

Your problem is called 'Jaw Winking' also called Marcus Gunn jaw winking after the doctor that described it first. Here is a link for more information: past this address into your internet browser. You need to have a comprehensive medical eye examination by an ophthalmologist. Most cases do not need treatment, treatment is difficult.

How very weird. There must be a lot of possibilities for such "aberrant connections."

I was all normal til age 42 when a whole bunch of weird stuff, both trivial and not so trivial, started happening (MS was suspected but not diagnosed).

Among the trivia was a long period when anytime I would squeeze my eyes shut, open them very wide, or just pass my hand over my face (as when tired), I would get a twitch above my left eye. About three seconds later, I would get the same twitch below my right eye!

Whenever I sneeze now, the top of my tongue itches strongly a few seconds later.

Among my dizziness problems, I had a four-day period of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) where, whenever I'd tip my head a little up and left (or lie down on my left side), the ceiling would start jerking up and down. This is typical for BPPV. The weird thing, which 3 dizziness specialists had never heard of, is that during the ceiling-jerking phase of the BPPV, my OPPOSITE ear got a strong beating/fluttering (both felt and heard) that corresponded exactly in duration and intensity to the ceiling-jerking. One doctor said this sounded like "aberrant regeneration," something "wired up wrong."

I also think the burst of "static" I hear in my left ear (which lost most of the hearing suddenly one day when I sneezed hard) when I move my eyes sideways is another of those "wired-up-wrong" phenomena.

I had brainstem auditory evoked potentials done and they were very abnormal, off the charts, on both sides, so I've wondered if that is related to some of these strange eye-ear connections.
