What can i expect with crossed eye surgery

HI, im a 37 yr old male, who has crossed eyes.   They've been that way since i was about 4 yrs old.   I wear glasses, but i've recently thought about having the problem fixed.   To be honest i think im kinda scared, i mean i dont want to have a problem that is worse than what i already have.   What can i expect as far as results from the surgery go, and what kinda of discomfort should i expect.    How difficult of a surgery is it, and what are the risks???

If your eyes are straight with glasses then surgery is not indicated and will not get you out of glasses. Standard risks including infection, bleedying, scar formation and possible damage to eye. Specific risks including under or over correction, double vision and need for additional surgery.

I had strabismus surgery on just one eye to eliminate a misalignment and double vision.  My results were excellent, and my recovery was quick and pain-free.  I never even needed a Tylenol, although I did have a red eye after surgery.  But outcomes and recovery vary.  I'd strongly urge you to consult an experienced, board-certified specialist for recommendations about your condition.  (It might even be a good idea to get a second opinion, too.)  It's possible that a simple procedure could make a big difference for you.
