What will work with a ReZoom??

Hello,
Got a ReZoom lens in my left eye last July-August 08 (not my decision..see previous posts). Need the right eye done. Some problems with the ReZoom. I have great vision during the day, halos at night while driving. (Taking PiloCarpine drops to offset the halos) Seeing a new surgeon and he is researching what will work best with the ReZoom in the left eye. Can I just put in a Single vision lens?? The ReZoom is giving me Great distance and so-so mid range vision. I really don't want to put in another multi-focal lens. Whatya think???  Thanx!!!  John P.

This ground has been tread many times. The best choice for most people would be a aspheric monofocal IOL (Alcona, Tecnis, B&L)  with likely a targeted refractive error of about -1.50

If the second lens is at -1.50, that would be 3/2 => 2/3 meter focal point, so this eye would be optimized for about 2 feet. I would have guessed that -0.75 (3/4 => 4/3 = 4 feet) or -1.00 (1 => 1 = 3.1 feet) might be better, to fill in the intermediate vision.

johnnypro: You should consider what specific distance(s) are most important for you, along with the quality of your Rezoom at that/those distances. Share these with your doctor to help him/her choose the best possible target. But then realize that the outcome may be -0.50 away from your target, one way or the other.
