What's it called When...

So, the last time I went to the eye doctor, my doctor told me what my vision problem is called, but I forgot what he called it. Here are my symptoms. I DO have an astigmatism, but my problem is that no matter how corrected my vision is in my weaker eye, I only have spotty vision. When I close my dominant eye and read the eye charts, I can't make out all the letters. I can tell if they are straight letters (L, T, I) or curved letters (C, O, G) but I can't always specify what letter it is. Can you tell me what this condition is called??? Another note - I can often read part of the line before my eyes get confused, but then the next letter I just cannot discriminate.

Your best bet is to call the "eye doctor" and ask the word again. Your description most closely resembles "amblyopia"
