While playing basketball son's eye was poked by a fingernail

While playing basketball my son's eye was poked by a finger nail. He was wearing contacts at the time. The outer white part of the eye is red.  It bled a little bit.  I believe there is a little tear and abrasion to the eye. I put cold ice in a bag with a paper towel wet and kept it on his eye for 15 minutes. What is the best way to take care of this? We don't have any insurance and are unemployed.  Any advice would be appreciated. Is his eye in any danger?

Stop wearing the contacts. Contact the optometrist or ophthalmologist that fit the contact lens for further advise. Yes this could lead to something serious.
