White haze in my eyes

Dear doctor,
My name is Maja,40 years old, female, healthy, myopy minus 7 on both eyes.First of all I want to say that English isnt my mother language, and I hope You will understand me.I have problems with my eyes. Some six months ago suddenly I lost my vision on my left eye..It lasted 10 minutes and went to normal. It all repeted some four months ago, exactly the same way.I went to oftalmologist who told me it was macular degeneration...I went to other two doctors who denied it was macular degeneration, but told me that my eye is getting older because of my myopy. They told me my eye has conus and that suffer because of it. Since that time I see many floaters, escpecially in that left eye. I went to see neurologist,he sent me to MR of endocranium...The results are fine. I have done blood tests, thyroid test,my neck carotides test, everything is fine. So neurologist told me to go back to oftalmologist. My biggest problem is white haze that suddenly I noticed in front of my eyes, especially the left one, some two weeks ago. Its like a fog that moves in the opposite direction from my eye movements.. It just come across my field of vision and very guickly disapear in the opposite direction. Yeterxay I visited my oftalmologist again, I was scared that my retina isnt detached. He looked into mh eyes with some bright lights and some kind if a lens with dilated pupils... He told me that retina is thin, but isnt detached, that my eyes have ,,conus,, ( sorry I dont know the English word, hope yiu can understand me],and that he can o ly see floaters in my eyes..I am very concerned about it what that white haze could be? Could you give me some advice? I want to thank you in advance, hoping you could help me.
Regards,Maja.

Maja: First of all "conus" is not a bad thing or even a disease. It's just s characteristic mark around the optic nerve found in many myopes. Don't worry about it. Second you problem does not at all seem anything like macular degeneration.  You have had a full neurologic work up and its unlikely that the 10 minute loss of vision you had in the past was anything serious.  Not likely eye disease or disease of the heart, brain or blood vessels. A very common cause of this at your age and gender is "eye migraines" this would be especially true if you saw jagged lines like a neon sign that you could see with your eyes shut. The whitish haze you describe that comes into you vision then moves in the opposite way you move your eye sounds like a large vitreous floater.  Look in a reference website or book in your native language and read about vitreous floaters and vitreous detachments (these are not the same as retinal detachments). Then I would call one of the ophthalmologists you like most (not one that told you you had macular degeneration) Describe what you are seeing and ask if it could be due to a large vitreous floater.

Dear doctor, thank you so much for your feply. Now,I am calm, and less worried.. I thought by myself it could be a floater, but wasnt sure about it. I want to ask you is there any chance that floated dissapear somehow in the futer,or to sink on the bottom of my eyeball??It is vefy irritating, I am very nervouse about it. Thank you for reasuring me about macular degeneration,at first I was very scared when the first docgor told me that. It is possible that loss of vision was because of migrains,I do suffer the whole my life of them, but didnt have those sympthoms earlier. You are very kind, and again, thank you very much on your answer. Regards,Maja.
Yes many floaters "disappear" with time. They can drop to the bottom of the eye or swing off to the side where they are not visible. Also the brain has what is called "neuroadaptation" and often "tunes out" the floaters so that you don't see them unless you try to find them.  This is how we "turn off" hearing our heart beat, feeling our shoes and clothes, etc.
