Why are my Ocular migraines changing?

My ocular migraines have recently started changing in the last few weeks. I woke up the other morning with a pain in my temple and varying types of ocular migraines all day and night. The very first one that hit that day, I felt an odd sensation up the back right side of my head and then the ocular migraine came on. My vision would stagger in one, go in and out like waves with another, I would lose vision with another in my left eye and another it would seem like someone turned the lights down low. Never did I get any auras.

When I lose vision it is always the left side, but when the other weird things happen, it is both sides.

Is this MS causing this? I have undifferentiated connective tissue disease and my MRI's have not been done yet for MS.

Hi!
I had my first "episode" when I was doing one of my clinical rotations at a hospital while in college.  It kinda freaked my out!  Very seldom do I get the symptoms but when I do it's a zigzag type pattern off the lateral side of my vision.  I have no pain what so ever.  Just the vision disruption.  It lasts just a few minutes.  I was told a few years later that what I experienced was an ocular migraine.

Your symptoms sound quite a bit different than what I have.  Perhaps you should see an opthamologist to see what he/she has to say.  Good luck with you problems and I hope you find the right answers!

As I said, I have not had the MRI's done yet, we are awaiting testing for MS.

I have had opthalmic migraines without headache since 1998 but they were always with an aura or loss of partial vision in left eye only.

Now whatever is going on now has no aura and is affecting both eyes.

Migraines can change with age and with hormonal changes.  This is not a sign of MS.  Also, an MRI would have pick up plaques.

You should see your neurologist.
