Why do I have bloodshot eyes after I take my contacts out?

I am 17 years old. I've been wearing contacts for about a year. Recently, every time I take my contacts out, my eyes get bloodshot (sometimes one, sometimes the other, sometimes both). I don't feel any pain. I do not feel any swelling or inflammation, but they are definitely blood shot. Should I be worried?

Dear eyeseyeseyes,

I would observe youreyes to determine whether the redness is present before removal or only after mechanical removal. Seek care of an eyeMD if you are concerned.
