Why is the blind spot bigger in my left eye than my right eye?

My normal blind spot since its the only blind spot i detect is bigger  in my left eye than my right eye, why is this? when I close my right eye and move my finger across my face my whole finger will disappear, but when I do the right eye only a bit of it will disappear and I notice my blind spot more in my left eye than right.

Can you tell me why this might be? Thanks!

Can I just ask you one more thing, is it also normal that I notice my blind spot if my nose blocks out my right eye? For instance say if I am looking to the left, my right eye can see my nose but as I look with my left eye I can notice my blind spot. Is that normal? thank you

If one blind spot was bigger than the other when you had your VF last time I believe the Eye MD or even a non-MD optom would tell you if the blind spot was enlarged.

So I would say no it doesn't make any difference in my recommendation.

I dont know if this makes a difference but last year I had a full visual field test and found nothing, I was told I did have a abnormal corneal shape and an astigmatism, where the left eye is the lazy eye. Would this make a difference?

Well it needs to be checked by an Eye MD ophthalmolost. When you schedule the appointment ask to schedule a visual field test also. Find an Eye MD at www.aao.org

That could represent swelling of the optic nerve, drusen of the optic nerve, a larger than normal optic nerve, or inflamation or scarring around the optic nerve head.
