Will my eye return to its normal position?

Will my eye return to its normal position?

I was wondering how soon my eye will return to its normal position?  It has been 6 days since surgery and the double vision has ended for the most part but my eye seems turn up and to the right instead of being in the normal position. Should I be trying to train it to turn down?

You will need to ask your orbital surgeon about this. Also use the search feature to review posts about double vision after orbital surgery.

I too had orbital surgery 3 weeks ago and the eye is still uneven--look like the eyeball is higher in the socket than the other and almost resembles a lazy eye. Is yours like that?  I can't seem to get straight answers as to whether or not this will go back to normal or need another surgery. Have you heard from your doc. yet?  Mine says to wait 6 weeks total to assess.

I wonder if you have had experience with eyes looking uneven after orbital surgery. I'm really worried.  Is it common?  And does it improve when swelling goes down?  I also had a jaw fracture that has a small implant repair which is still somewhat numb, but is starting to feel better.

Then you are stuck with it and you should see a pediatric-strabismus specialist to see if glasses, prisms or surgery can correct. In the USA find a eye muscle surgeon at www.aao.org overseas ask your family MD or orbital surgeon for a referral.

A good friend is recovering from the orbital fracture surgery (floor).  Typically, how long after surgery does most of the double vision go away or is substantially improved?  I understand not all patients have success.  I see that angel53 took only 6 days, but is that fast?  Thanks.

I would say that if no improvement in the double vision is seen 2-3 months post surgery I would get a second opinion from an opthalmologist that specializes in strabismus (eye muscle) surgery.
