Worried Sick

I am having to get both of my eyes down for posterior cataracts.  I am wondering if there are any complications to the surgery?  And i was wondering i haven't been able to find any information about long term affects.  It doesn't seem like there have been a lot of long term studies done.  Can you help put me at ease.  Surgery on my eyes is just a scary thought.

You are not really doing your homework. Of course there are complications. Use the search feature and archives and read all about the problems, complications and also the type of IOLs that are available.

As to long term studies cataract surgery is one of the oldest surgeries in history.

Complications occur in about 3-5% of patients. The worst complication is loss of all vision from infection or hemorrhage. A reasonable risk rate would be about 1 in five to 10 thousand.

You need to talk to your surgeon in more detain.

ALL SURGERY HAS RISK OF COMPLICATIONS. NO SURGERY IS TOTALLY RISK FREE.
