Wrong lens replacement?

I had lens replacement surgery just one week ago.  The doctor thinks the lens we used may not be strong enough since my vision is not what we expected.  He has suggested we consider replacing the lens with a stronger one as soon as next week or even this week.  But I have also heard that vision can change after lens replacement.  How long should it take for vision to be accurately assessed after surgery?  The doctor says it's better to replace the lens sooner rather than later and I am eager to have the situation rectified since I find the discrepancy between my two eyes disorienting and uncomfortable.  I am getting eye strain headaches and even feel nauseous from distorted vision.  I was formerly extremely nearsighted and now have faulty depth perception and can't see well at mid range which involves most of my work.  Thank you.

It is easier to replace it sooner rather than later.  If there is a problem with the lens power - you can usually tell within a week or so.  At about 2  weeks post-op would be a good time to do the IOL exchange - otherwise the first IOL will start to get secured in the capsular bag and more difficult to remove.  The one special situation is after previous radial keratotomy or other refractive corneal surgery - where the cornea can be a little unstable for several weeks and you have to wait for the final refraction to settle in.  Probably not your situation.

Recommend sooner rather than later.  The implant will be much more difficult to exchange if you wait more than 2, 3 or 4 weeks after first surgery.

Is two months too long to wait to have lens replaced? Mine might need to be
replaced (had it done 2/6/08), but I am leaving country for two weeks
4/5/-4/20/08, and doctor suggested waiting until I return.
