Wrongt Lens after Cataract Surgery

Wrongt Lens after Cataract Surgery

Doctor:

I Recently had cataract removed from my Left eye. My doctor and I discuss Plano Lens, because the lens in my Right eye was 24.OD, 13 Omm, 6 Omm power, which made me too near sighted. After my recent surgery to my Left eye, my ID power measurement is now  identical to my Right eye, which leaves my near sighted in both eyes. The last operation was done by a different doctors. I wear glasses with prisim because of  graves with (diplopia) for reading and driving. Before surgery I could have done household chors watch TV and see the clock and read signs at a distant of over 7 ft away. Now,  I cannot do anything without reaching for my glasses. My vision is worst after the surgery. I know that something is wrong, the wrong info. was pick-up from my chart. I just know it, for this is not what we discussed. I won't have had the surgery if he had informed me that he was planning on using the same power lens that I had in my Right Eye for my Left Eye. How do I approach him concerning his error ? Should he correct his mistake  at his expense? On the other hand, I do not trust him messing around my eyes to correct anything, so what should I do?

Thanks for your suggestions

Ask him directly what could have caused a miscalculation (they do occur to every surgeon once in a while and it's not necessarily a mistake on his part).  If you are not satisfied with his response, you could seek a second opinion from another trustworthy cataract surgeon who could review the records and give you another opinion.

I have confronted my doctor and he is not to admit to that he did anything wrong. He said that my mesurement are correct for the power of Lens inserted. My vision is worst now than it was before cataract surgery. Everything is Fuzzy and Gray, I can barely drive. How can I check to make sure that my doctor measurements and the lens he inserted matches the right power lens?  I suspect that my doctor or his staff gave me the wrong lens.
My doctor now wants to do corrective surgery in 4 months  to correct  my nearsightness. He put a Contact Lens in the eye left eye to ease my distress until then. I'm still using Predrisone and Acular drops with the Contact in placed. I didn't know that cataract surgery was a two step process.
Can my doctor make changes to my records if he discovers, that an error was made before sending my records to another doctor?  I wants another doctor to request my surgery records. What can I do to protect my records?  I have to go out of state for a second opinion. I live in a small town.

Thanks,

Don't panic.  It would be illegal and very difficult for anyone to change lens calculation records.  Just get copies of all records and have the second opinion review and tell you what happened.  Most likely thing is instead of making the second eye distance, they accidentally made it to match the first eye (what we do in most cases).  That is just speculation though and the review of your files should shed more light.  There are ways to fix this though so try and stay calm.  Good luck.
