Yellowish areas of the eye?

I've had a yellowish "splotch" near my right pupil for several months.  I've recently noticed that the outer areas of my eye (mostly behind the lids) also have a yellowish hue.  Ideas on what could be causing this?

My eyes also are red much of the time (red more like lines of blood vessels, as opposed to being red throughout) and are at times blurring slightly (as if they're too watery) or itchy/burning.  I have allergies and have been using Patanol over the past few springs/summers.  Previously the Patanol had appeared to work without side effects.  Could what I'm experiencing be a new reaction to the Patanol, or something else?

I'm currently awaiting the results of a blood test looking for thyroid/other problems.  Could that account for the eye issues?  If the blood test comes back negative, what should I pursue with an eye doctor (or other) regarding the yellow patches?

Thyroid eye disease especially overactive Grave's Disease can cause lots of eye problems. You should make an appointment with an ophthalmologist (Eye MD) for a comprehensive medical eye examination to get a definitive diagnosis.
