about macular degeneration

Is it possible for a person to have wet macular degeration in one eye and dry maculardegeneration in the other eye?
Does one receive shots in the eye as a medical treatment for macular degeneration?

(I ask because I have an elderly relative who seems to have macular degeneration.)

Thanks much.

I have similar situation like wet MD (blood vessels growing and leaking blood/fluid). I've had about 7 or 8 PDTs; my last one was about 3 or 4 years ago I think. Do Doctors still use PDT to treat wet MD? Needle in the eye is just scary plus you have to do it so often.
