anesthetics and macular degeneration

My aunt has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is scheduled to have a masectomy shortly. She also has macular degeneration and is concerned that there is a possibility that the general anesthetic could adversely affect her eyesight. Could you tell me what risks exist and how great/small they are? Are there any drugs she should avoid? Many thanks Claire

No increase risk, no medications to avoid if she needs them for a life threatening problem.
