Inflammation of the eye is common after cataract surgery.  Every doctor has a different routine for eyedrops but it is important to listen to your eye surgeon. Tapering of the steroids is indicated so as to not provoke a rebound effect of inflammation following a rapid discontinuation.  Like any surgery, healing takes some time.
