anyone have keratoconus?

by V52, Apr 05, 2007 12:00AM
This is a rare problem, I think, not general eye problem.  A few months ago, I was diagnosed with probable keratoconus.  The cornea loses its cone shape making vision fuzzy.  I had an orb scan that was inconclusive.  The Dr. I saw said this was the one contraindication for keratotamy surgery and he used to perform the surguries.  It was his gut feeling and said I should come back in 6 months and we could find out for sure with another exam to compare to the 1st one.  My vision, despite being set to 20/20 was still "fuzzy" but not bad.  Just annoying.

Does anyone else have this diagnosis?  How many have ended up with cornea transplants?  How fast?  What kind of Dr. should I see?  Are there any preventative measures I can take?

Thanks for any info!
