astigmatism

Hi im 24 years old, 6 mos ago I've noticed that my eyes are blurring when looking or reading words from far distances. I really want to correct it. Can I use eyeglasses or contact lenses? How long do i need to wear it to return my normal vision? I Have already consulted an optometrist then she found out that my both eyes are -1.00 what does it mean is it high or low? Thank you.

It means you have mild nearsightedness.  You can try and go without glasses or contacts for now if you want.  A pair of glasses should give you perfect vision if that's what you want (assuming everything else was ok on the exam).  This is very common and nothing to worry about.
