battery fumes and visual changes

I drive a dump truck and have 3 batteries on board.  Last week I had one of them to blow up.  At the time I thought it was an exhaust leak and had it checked but was told there was nothing wrong.  I continued to drive the truck until the smell got too bad.  Now I am having problems with my vision.  It feels like my eyes don't want to stay focused on anything, kind of like vertigo with severe headaches.  I did go to the emergency room, but at the time I did not associate this problem with everything else. I had major heart palpatations with epigastric pain, sweating, nausea & vomiting.  Is this connected to the effects of the battery acid fumes?

Battery acid can affect your eyes.  However, I doubt the fumes alone can cause permanent damage. See and EyeMD if eye symptoms persists.
