Lonnie,
Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelid margins and can be associated with inflammation of the oil producing glands of the eyelids (meibomitis).
This can be related to infections, dry skin (seborrhea) and allergic problems.
Most people have itching burning eyes which are red and can feel irritated.
The best treatment for blepharitis is warm compresses to the eyelid 2 - 4 times a day with daily eyelid scrubs.  This can be done with a Q-tip dipped in a 50:50 mixture of water and baby shampoo.  The eyelid margins can be cleaned with care being taken to avoid getting the Q-tip in the eye.
If this does not work, topical antibiotics or antibiotic pills may help.
There are other problems which can mimic blepharitis.  In order to confirm the diagnosis and individualize treatment, you should see your ophthalmologist prior to starting any treatment.
