big eye problem with toric lenses

I have a problem with my eyes that started a couple of months ago after a trip to India to see the Dalai Lama. I have astigmatism in both eyes and was prescribed and fitted for Bosch&Lomb SofLens toric lenses 5 1/2 years ago. They were never a put-it-in-and-forget-it fit for me, but they seemed to do their job.  Then  in August, all hell broke loose.  My eyes get dry and irritated after a couple of hours, I feel like I have sand in my eyes, and being outside, my vision gets blurred instantly.  Working on a computer with the contacts in is a non-starter.  All of that was always there, even at the best of times, but I know when my vision blurs I start getting headaches.  Like the other day coming back on a bus from a holiday in a resort three hours north of Astana, I had to take out my contacts because after an hour on the bus the headache had grown blinding. And on a sunny day, even if there's no wind, my eyes get teary and vision blurs and clouds at in an instant, again leading to a mother of all headahces.  I've gone to see my ophthalmologist at the eyewear shop I patronize, and she told me my dioptres had not changed and that I should give wearing contacts a break and try the bespectacled look for a few months.  I don't want to do that, since glasses and my face don't mesh together well. If I lived in Europe or stateside, it would not be a problem but in Kazakhstan your options for professional advice are severely limited.  Hence this cry for help.  Sorry for being longwinded.

I can not recommend anything.  You need a good eye exam.  This does not make sense.
