My daughter is 7 she has had a dark pupil and the white of her eye has dark coloring. She was diagnoised with Ocular Melanocytosis last year. Can this cause fevers? We have noticed her getting fevers every month since 10months old.Wehave been to many specialists still trying to find fever cause? joe747
Freckles on the iris are common, malignant tumors (almost always melanoma) are rather rare. Also the iris tumors tend to be low grade. Waiting until November is not that long. The odds are in your favor.

I have a black dot on my iris. Can this be "just a freckle" or possible cancer? I am scheduled for a more invasive visual test in 2 weeks and then an ultra sound, 2 weeks after that. Is this too long of a wait? I have a few floaters in the eye with the "dot" but other than that, there are no other sympthoms.
They you will need additional tests and consultations possibly to include photography, fluoroscene angiograms, ultra-sound and OCT.
Assuming the black spot is in the retina you should see a retina Eye MD physician ophthalmolgist for this evaluation.
Most spots in the eye turn out to be benign but the tests are necessary to establish this for sure.
