blind in one eye

my step son was in a accident and had a really bad head injury the left side was affected by the head injury which caused him to be blind in the left eye. i was wondering if they could take the nerve out of his right eye to help him see even if it could mean that he would only see tunnel vision

The optic nerve is the connection between the eye and the brain.  It is essentially nerve tissue that is an extension of the brain, therefore it is not possible to remove the optic nerve without cutting off all connection between the eye and brain.  Having lost all vision in the left, it is essential for your step son to wear protective eyewear at all times on the right to prevent any future eye injuries resulting in loss of vision in his only seeing eye.
