blood in corner of eye

Last night I had some sleep on the skin right by the corner of my eye (by my nose) and I rubbed/scratched it away, and a small amount of blood pooled up in the corner of my eye, over the red part, not the white part. I panicked a bit, because I'm very squeamish when it comes to my eyes, but my mum told me not to worry and go to bed. I'm not in pain, other than it feeling a little itchy once or twice since, but it still looks like a small amount of blood is sitting in the corner of my eye, just visible beneath the skin around the eye. Should I be worried? Do I need to see a doctor? n
