blood in the eye

My husband is diabetic and hypertensive, I happen to notice while talking to him suddenly his left eye looked like it was full of blood.  He said it does not hurt and it is not affecting his vision.  Could this have something to do with his high blood pressure or the fact that he is diabetic?

If the white part of the eye (sclera) is blood red but there is no pain or decrease in vision then the cause in likely a broken blood vessel in the outer layer of the eye know as subconjunctival hemorrhage.

If he take coumadin or heparin his INR test should be repeated.

If he has not had an eye exam within 12 months he needs to see and Eye MD physician ophthalmologist for a baseline exam.
