bloody spots on eye ball

My son was caught off guard and hit in the eye a couple of days ago.  He has bloody looking spots, one small and one larger near his tear duct.  Should I worry about this?  He said it was painful and hard to see for about an hour or so after getting hit.  His eyelid was swollen and now a little bruised.

I'm being told that I'm over reacting, and that it's just broken vessels.  Can you comment on complications from getting hit in the eye, or explain what kind of problems can arise from the bloody spots on the whites of his eye.  My son says his eye feels fine at this time, and I'm being a mom.  Maybe showing him and my husband your post will help.
Thank you for your response,
Kristel
