I was reading your web site last night I realized you specialized in blown pupils, traumatic mydriasis, i was struck in the eyewith a roulette wheel marble as it was shot from the roulette wheel over 2 years ago.i was diagnosed with T,MYDRIASIS i had no nerve damage the doctors believe it is my sphincter muscle. my pupil is very big and round and fixed it does not quiver to any light used by doctors, or have any movement at all, even when i use eye drops called pilo still nothing ,with your experience is this heard of not having any movement at all with the pupil, i am confused, one doctor said i should have movent the other 3 said no contrasting theories. my question to you is if the sphincter muscle has been injured will the pupil still be able to constrict for over two years, any knowledge on this subject that you can recommend would be greatly appreciated, do you have a theory as to why my pupil will not constrict or even quiver to light. sincerely maria avare longwood fl
It's called traumatic iridoplegia and it comes in varying degrees from pupils that are only ever so slightly "blown" and do react to light to total blown with no movement.
See an ophthalmologist. If it happened less than 6 months ago some recovery may occur, if not and its trublesome than drops can sometimes constrict the pupil or a cosmetic contact lens might be fitted.
