blue field entoptic phenomenon vs actual physical floaters

Is there a noticeable difference between the two? Do physical floaters move slower?

Dear Michael719,

Floaters are spots that move around.

But blue field entoptic phenomenon also has spots moving around. I want to know if I am just seeing my white blood cells or if it is because my vitreous humour is shrinking.

First of all the blue field entoptic phenomenon usually occurs when looking at a bright blue background, like the sky. So if your spots are seen on a non blue background it's probably floaters.
Secondly, floaters do not follow the same path and can vary in size whereas the spots seen in the blue field phenomenon are the same size and all follow the same path.
Thirdly for more info. go search the web and/or see a doctor.
