blue ring around iris

I have dark brown eyes and since I moved to Arizona I have acquired a blue ring around my iris, is this a side effect of being sunlight sensitive?
Will I go blind or should I be concerned about my eyesight?

Dear Bre284,

I would recommend that you see an eyeMD to determine whether this represents a condition called arcus, in which cholesterol deposits in the cornea or maybe, other diagnoses. Depending on your age, this may be a normal finding or associated with elevated cholesterol.
