blurred vision after cataract surgery

blurred vision after cataract surgery

On day 1 after my April 7 right eye cataract surgery and continuing unchanged to date, I have had blurred vision.   The blur does not meet the "usual" definition.  For lack of a better word, the blurriness is crescent shaped going from the bottom through the center to the top of my field of vision.  The vision is not blank, but blurred, so that I can no longer make out images/letters.

Retina detachment, macular degeneation, optic issues all seem to have been ruled out.  So they want to try laser thinking that it is a fold..  I'm afraid this isn't the problem and that the lens should be replaced.  If they do laser, will this make lens replacement almost impossible?

How critical is he timing?

Laser would make lens replacement more difficult and dangerous.  Get a second opinion before you have it done.  Consider seeing a retina specialist to make sure there is no subtle abnormality.

Because I hesitated on the laser, it's been suggested I see a neuro-opthamalogist.  Perhaps a stroke occurred during the 24 hours between the start of the cataract surgery and removing the bandages.  Also, suggested a pituitary problem.

As a followup to your june 1 post, can lens replacement be done safely several months after the first surgery if there is no laser treatment?
