brigft lights

Today at work, I was walking over to our main office from the hangar, when I noticed this bright colored lights in my upper right field of vision in my right eye. It lasted for about an hour. Whenever I would move my eyes, the lights would follw, staying in the same spot in relation to my field of vision.
About an hour after, while sitting at my desk, the same thing occured in my left eye. The lights can be best described as lines of color, predominantly blue and white, almost moving like a neon sign. In my left eye it appeared in the lower left corner of my vision. This also lasted about an hour. It came back about a half an hour later, in the same location of my left eye.
I rarely have a headache, but on ocassion I have blurred vision.
I have had several back problems in the middle of my back between my shoulder blades. Could this be related? What could be causing this?  Thanks.    Mike

well the other patient said it well- it sounds like ocular migraines but could rather be related to the retina, like a retinal tear, so i would have a thorough eye exam done.  good luck
