bumps on lower eyelid outside the eye

Every year I get these little red itchy bumps on the outside of my lower eyelid. They usually do not bother me until I touch them, thats when they itch. Well lastnight I had a slight headache for a few minutes, then i went to bed I shut my eyes and kind of scrunched my nose up, I started to feel slight pain in the corner of my eye on the skin only. Then when i woke up this morning my eye was swollen and it looked like I have a black eye. I have not been hit or fallen or anything for that to happen. My eye is hurting more and the swelling has gone down a little bit. It seems that my upper eyelid is swollen and very tender to touch. It feels as though the pain is coming from the center of my eyelid on the outside. Please can i get someone to tell me what may be wrong.
