burning sensation thruout body after cataract surgery

Had cataract surgery 3 weeks ago about five days after surgery noticed burning sensation under right arm, then along the belt line on the right side. Approximately 5 days later both armpits were swollen and ached/burned with movement, now they burn/ache with no movement.also various hot spots thruout the chest/abdomen area. Could this be related to the surgery? maybe rejection of the lens? maybe picked up a slight infection in the operating room?

FYI have been to the doctor, had chest x-ray (normal) had sonogram on right armpit and breast area (normal) and blood work (CBC and PSA and both normal). Back to Doctor next week for more specific blood test and exam.

Thanks for your help

Hi,
It is probably related to one of your eye drops which could have reacted to your other meds (esp zocor or niacin). I have this feeling you are doing much better now? The meds used to induce a MAC are short lived. Good luck.

Also is it possible that the medications could interact with the MAC which was the anesthesia used in the surgery?

Thank you for your response. I am using Broomday once in the morning and Prednisolone 4 drops per day for the eye. I also take 1000 mg of slo niacin, 20 mg of zocor, 2400 mg fish oil, 2000 units of vitamin D, 2 baby aspirins and a multi vitamin.

FYI my blood pressure has risen since the surgery. It was always in the normal range and now it has been 160/100, 140/100 and yesterday 1/9/12 it was 158/68. Have not had a fever and have a good appetite.

Thank you very much for your help

Hi. You need to be specific. Are you on any medication eye drops? I'll assume no, since you didn't describe this. Lens rejection is very rare. I truly don't think this is the culprit. It does sound like you are having some type of medication reaction. Sulfa drugs can cause this. Are you on diamox (acetazolamide?). Thanks.
