can LASIC trigger a cataract in 18 year old??

can LASIC trigger a cataract in 18 year old??

My 18 year old son had a LASIC procedure done 2 months ago and started seeing dark spots and having blurry vison in one of his eyes recently. His Dr. checked the back of the eye and said he has a cataract! An 18 year old, with heathly eyes, up to a present point, who had not have any familt history of cataract, no eye trauma and has never taken any oral steroids???

Later they also said it could just be an inflamation (inflammation), which displays itself as cataract and prescribed prednisone drops. So far he used them for 4 days, w/o any improvement.

I can't seem to make any sence out what's going on with his eyes. Could anyone help with any kind of feedback please?!!

Lasik could not cause a cataract. Discuss with the ophthalmologist taking care of him. If you do not understand or feel uncomfortable ask for a second opinion.

Dr. Hagan,
Is this other theory that what looks like a cataract may be an imflamation of the lens making any sense?

Also, prednisone eye drops started causing eye pain and irritation, that he did not have before, shous he stop using the drops until we get a second opinion?

Thank you!

Inflammation in the eye (uveitis) can cause a cataract.  I would not stop the prednisone without discussing it with his present Eye MD it could make things much worse.
