can i use a gas permeable contact after cataract surgery

To: JodieJ

I really appreciate your reply.Kind of thought that's what I would hear.  Am using  two gas permeables now in the non-dominant eye(one for reading;one for distance).  Am not sure if I'll have to switch to a soft contact when I have the surgery. Decision now will be whether to have a distance or close iol put in.  Thanks for your quick response.

If you can wear a RGP contact now, you should be able to wear one after cataract surgery.  (I could wear contacts just as comfortably after cataract surgery as before.)  If you wear your reading contact more often, then set the implant for near vision (or vice versa).  BTW, if you only use the distance contact for particular activities (e.g., night driving, tennis, etc.), one-day disposables might work out better--no cleaning, soaking, storing required.
