car dashboard and vision

I took a new car for a test drive today and found it hard to read the speedometer (black background, white numbers).  It was late afternoon and the sun was extremely bright, so I was wearing sunglasses. Am an RD patient, both eyes, with subsequent IOLs plus a fresnel on one lens of my progressives due to diplopia secondary to RD repair. Are there any auto makes known to have dashboard images that are more user-friendly to those with vision challenges, or is it just trial and error to find what works best?

Thank you. Since posting I looked at the AAA website and found a printable list of autos (in a section open to nonmembers, too) with features that are helpful to those with certain conditions such as diminished vision from cataracts and glaucoma, and physical limitations due to arthritis, etc.  I also read that cars with a digital display of speed on the dashboard, as opposed to the traditional speedometer with a needle against the dial, can be helpful to those with diminished vision.
