cataract complications

My husband had cataract surgery onTuesday, Oct. 7th he had been on flomax but stopped using it a week before surgery. Has cloudy vision could not see anything but a haze day after surgery when patch was taken off. Doctor said there were complications, surgery took almost 2 hours. We are putting the 3 recommended drops in his eye 4 times a day, per doctors change in instructions. Has a revisit scheduled for Friday and Monday. In 3 weeks is scheduled for right eye cataract surgery which he is quite apprehensive of hav ing at this time. Any suggestions, aides, etc. would be appreciated. Thank you

Postpone surgery on the right eye until the first eye heals and you are happy and the eye is "out of the woods". Find out exactly what the complications were and what the implications are. This type of surgery usually only takes 15 minutes. Did he have "floppy iris syndrome" due to flomax? Did he have vitreous loss? Did the capsule break. Get all the details.

I had cataract surgery on Tuesday - today, Friday - I am still feeling a gritty sensation in eye and it is blurry.  I can't even tell if my eye is open or not until I look in the mirror.  I saw the doctor again yesterday and he just ordered new drops.  I am taking 4 kinds of eye drops now.  I think they are further irritating things.  Is there anything topical I can do - like warm washcloth or cold washcloth?  I feel like ripping my eye out!

You can try warm or cool compresses.
