cataract surgery in high myopia

cataract surgery in high myopia

I have always been very nearsighted with a correction of minus 9 in each eye. I had cataract surgery on one eye yesterday and I can see without my glasses now. My vision tested 20/40 in that eye and they said there will be improvement and they will do my second eye soon.

I had no idea that I would not have to wear glasses, except to read. Do they ever do this surgery strictly for nearsightedness? If I had known, I would have complained alot more about my cataract a year or two ago.

Yes, when done to correct the myopia its called a clear lens exchange or refractive lens exchange.
