cause of hole in retina after cataract surgery?
After cataract surgery and implantation of a crystalense, my vision was worse than before. My doctor told me he could not see that I had a hole in my retina until he had removed the cataract and the swelling had subsided. During the operation I felt one stab of deep pain. My vision before the surgery had no blank spots or "wrinkles" in lines of type as I do now. What is the likelihood that this hole was created during surgery?

The chance is ZERO.

However you might have had cystoid macular edema caused by the surgery that caused the hole to develop in the post operative period.

See a retina Eye MD ophthalmologist for a second opinion.
