circle around my eye

During my bi-annual eye test, my opthamologist said he could see a 'circle around my eye' and he suggested I see my family physician and have my cholesterol tested. My family doctor sent me for a blood test and my doctor told me the results were normal. I have also been seeing an internist for hypothyroid symptoms and my TSH levels are at 8.41
The internist is waiting for 3 months and will retest to see if there is a change. Would the 'circle around my eye' be related to hypothyroidism. What exactly does it mean when the opthamologist says ' circle around the eye'?

I am only 47 years old and my family doctor told me the blood test for cholesterol levels indicated that my cholesterol is not elevated. Perhaps I should ask to see the results/and have a retest. Can anything else cause this circle?

Dear tugar1,

This commonly occurs with age and may occur earlier in some individuals due to elevated cholesterol levels.
