client eye condition

I have a client in the community who says they have myopic retinal degeneration. I can not find any information on this and I am wondering if you can explain to me what this is. She describes her eye as being oval shaped and says there has been some bleeding in it. She wants to know if she will go blind and what she can do to prevent this. She is unhappy with the answers she has received so far.

myopic degeneration simply put means that due to the eye being " too long" and thus causing the nearsightedness, the patients retina is "stretched" - ( this is a very simplistic explaination ) anyway, this stretching thins the retina in places and can cause a variety of problems, ranging from simple pigment clumping, to bleeding, macular degeneration and retinal tears.  the vast majority of people with this do not go "blind" but your client needs regular exams to monitor her.  there is no way to prevent these problems except for regular exams.  good luck.
