constricted pupils

constricted pupils

I have two questions. My son is eight weeks old. He has been sleeping with his eyes half open (only occasionaly) i have asked my health nurse about this and  she didn't know. Is this normal? Can it cause future problems... Also I have discovered that when he is asleep(with eyes fully closed) and i open his eyelid his pupils are constricted (pinpoint/*****) and do not respond to the light. what is this about and should I be concerned?

Infant pupils are normally pinpoint get bigger as the child gets older and then in old age return to being very small.

Watch the eyelid situation closely. If the eye gets red or irritated or you see the cornea exposed (instead of just sclera) take a picture of the situation and see a pediatric ophthalmologist for an evaluation.
